Alterations

If you’re a regular visitor you may have noticed a few subtle alterations to the appearance of this site. Nothing big, mind you, just some minor improvements, as I like to think of them:

• Now that I’ve upgraded to Movable Type 2.6, I’ve used some of its new capability to add metadata for my site’s Creative Commons licence to the main page, as well as my RSS feeds.
• Taking advantage of the new text formatting plugin integration, I am using the MT-Textile plugin as the default for the comment form on entries that allow notes. This means that you can type freely in the text box without having to worry about proper formatting tags and such, as they are now added automatically.
• Inspired by the On This Day links at plasticbag.org, but not wanting to rip off Tom completely, I have added a Word of the Day link to my own individually archived entries. Why? Because I like words. And because I can.
• I’ve also made a few aesthetic adjustments via the style sheet, just to make the place look a bit smarter. Just because.

These are in addition to the changes I’ve made elsewhere over the last two weeks since first installing Movable Type, such as importing my old Blogger archive into MT as searchable individual posts, and the vastly improved weblog archive page.

Of course, as is the case with the majority of websites, this place is in a constant state of flux, but if I start making any more unnecessary adjustments I’ll just be wasting time and reaffirming my worries of Sunday afternoon.
